Administration Faced Allegations of Assault on Free Speech Following British Journalist Detained
A leading Islamic civil rights association has charged the current leadership of a “blatant affront to freedom of expression” following federal immigration authorities detained British journalist Sami Hamdi on Sunday.
This body claimed that Hamdi was detained at San Francisco airport due to condemning Israel’s current military campaign in the Gaza Strip. He is one of several individuals who have been detained and deported by federal agents for voicing pro-Palestinian stances.
Federal authorities stated that the journalist’s visa had been canceled, and that he was in custody “awaiting deportation.”
