From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could help the group access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
