Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he spun at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
