Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Debuts, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Based on Beloved Titles
Similar to the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will welcome back of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The upcoming Mario film is set to release close to the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles officially announced for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
