Patriots Equal Longest Victory Run From Brady Years with Triumph Over New York Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

Rookie Henderson has tallied five TDs during the current campaign

The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak since the Tom Brady period as they defeated division opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football

First-year standout Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season

Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

Victory bolsters the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York at the foot after falling to two wins and eight losses

The Jets had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Fields running in a five-yard TD to finish the Jets' opening drive

But the home team answered in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7

"It was a key occasion for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," Maye said of Henderson. "He desires to be great."

Fields found John Metchie toward the end of the third period to reduce the lead for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the win
