US Department of the Treasury Considers Commemorative $1 Trump Coin Displaying ‘Fight, Fight, Fight’ Phrase
To mark the 250th anniversary of America's independence, the US Treasury is exploring the minting of a $1 coin featuring former President Donald Trump with a raised fist under an US flag and the words “fight, fight, fight”.
Symbolic Reference
The phrase overtly refers to what Trump shouted right after surviving an attempt on his life a few months before he gained a second term.
Public Statement
US Brandon Beach shared a preliminary design of the coin on this week via X, stating: “This is genuine. These drafts marking America’s 250th birthday and [Trump] are authentic.”
The online announcement – which amplified another commentator discussing the coin concept – indicated that Beach looked “eager to provide updates” after the resolution of the government funding lapse that started after Wednesday night when Democratic senators insisting on changes on health policy and other funding matters declined to offer the approval necessary to pass a Republican-backed budget proposal.
Legal Context
As reported, in 2020, at the conclusion of his initial term, Trump signed jointly supported bill permitting the Treasury head to issue $1 coins during the upcoming anniversary year that are “emblematic of the United States semiquincentennial”.
Features Elements
One side of the coin on whose draft design Beach commented recently showed Trump’s likeness alongside “Liberty”, “In God We Trust”, and “1776-2026”.
The back evoked the effort to harm Trump at a campaign event in PA last year, when officials said a shooter harmed Trump’s right ear and hurt two others before being shot to death by the Secret Service.
Trump lifted his fist after the attack – one of two attempted assassinations for him as he successfully ran for a second presidential term in 2024 – and exclaimed, “Fight, Fight, Fight!” with an American flag visible nearby.
Department Comment
A response from a treasury department spokesperson clarified that the proposal which Beach’s online update discussed was not the “definitive coin design”. But the comment maintained that “this concept effectively captures the lasting character of our land and democratic system, even in the midst of significant challenges”.
Administrative Backdrop
Trump’s approval rating on average has dropped to negative figures, as his current term has slashed healthcare protections and food aid that benefits the low-income, while also implementing tariffs that led to a documented increase in cost of living.
Among other things, the White House has also deployed US military troops into the urban centers of various municipalities, cut roughly significant funding in funding for immunizations such as the ones that played a role in stopping the global health emergency, and faced challenges to manage a scandal over his former association with deceased sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein.
